The Journey

Music for Moving Through the World

Whether crossing mountain passes or sitting still at first light — this is music that moves with you. Four albums charting the terrain between here and elsewhere.

The Stillness

Meditation & Quiet Attention

Ambient music rooted in Eastern traditions of sustained listening. The pause between notes is as composed as the note itself. Silence is the fifth instrument.

The Drama

Cinematic & Orchestral Depth

Ancient bells, bowed strings, and resonant woodwinds layered into dramatic cinematic soundscapes. Music that breathes with the weight of centuries.

The Discography

Four Albums.

Mortality & Impermanence

Remember We
Must Die

Lionel Cohen  ·  24 Tracks  ·  56 Minutes

A solemn traversal of mortality and stillness. Temple bells toll at the edge of hearing. Erhu strings curve around silences that say more than sound. Woodwinds drift like mist over still water — music that does not hurry toward resolution.

Travel

Music for departure lounges, mountain roads, temple courtyards, and the long hours between places.

Meditation

Ambient environments built for sustained, quiet attention. Music that asks you to slow down and stay.

Cinematic

Orchestral depth and dramatic sweep. Music that plays like a scene you've never seen but somehow remember.

Drama

Slow. Inevitable. Profound. Ancient instruments carrying the weight of centuries into the present moment.

The Approach

On Listening & Moving

The best journeys answer questions that, in the beginning, you didn't even think to ask.

Travel and music share the same deepest purpose — to remove you from the familiar and deliver you, slightly changed, to an encounter with the unfamiliar. These albums are not soundtracks. They are environments.

The compositions are designed to be inhabited rather than consumed. They create rooms with walls of sound, floors of low drone, windows of high shimmer. You do not pass through them — you spend time in them.

The instruments chosen are not decorative. Gamelan, koto, guzheng, shakuhachi, erhu, temple bells — each carries centuries of intentional use and philosophical weight. They are engaged as living traditions with something specific to say to the contemporary moment.

Silence is always the final instrument. In the tradition of the shakuhachi, the breath between notes is as meaningful as the note itself. Every pause is composed. Every gap is held.

Instrumentation

The Instruments of Silence

ガムラン

Gamelan

Bronze percussion ensemble from Indonesia. Tuned metal keys and gongs shaped over fire — their harmonics never fully resolve, always ringing into the next breath.

琴・古筝

Koto & Guzheng

Japan's koto and China's ancient guzheng — silk strings stretched over wood, each pluck a calligraphy stroke in sound, carrying millennia of dynastic memory.

尺八

Shakuhachi & Dizi

Bamboo flutes carried by wandering Zen monks. Their tone lives in the space between breath and note — the sound of impermanence made audible.

Bells & Erhu

Temple bells, singing bowls, and the bowed erhu — resonance that carries across distances, announcing arrivals and departures with equal solemnity.
