One operation. A thousand signals. No room for error.
The Film: Hunting Hezbollah
Hunting Hezbollah, titled The Frequency of Fear for international audiences, is a spy thriller based on true events. The film follows a covert Israeli operation targeting Hezbollah, as thousands of pagers and walkie-talkies in the possession of its operatives explode across Lebanon.
Built around intelligence work, covert networks and a compromised communications supply chain, the story moves through a world of surveillance, deception and high-stakes decisions. As the operation unfolds, questions of loyalty, exposure and the risk of a wider regional conflict become increasingly urgent.
The film draws on the September 2024 device explosions in Lebanon, an extraordinary episode that brought the vulnerabilities of modern communications networks into sharp focus. The real-world events involved two waves: pager explosions on September 17, followed by explosions involving handheld radios the next day. The attacks caused deaths and thousands of injuries, including among people beyond the immediate operational targets. The film dramatizes the intelligence operation; it is not presented here as a documentary account.
The Score: The Frequency of Fear
Composer lionel Cohen creates the original spy-thriller score for Hunting Hezbollah: The Frequency of Fear. The music follows the film's shifting tension: covert preparation, intelligence gathering, hidden loyalties, operational setbacks and the threat of escalation. From the first signal to the final credits, the score helps shape an atmosphere of pressure, uncertainty and controlled urgency.
The 50-track original score mirrors the film's progression through its mission-driven narrative, with cues that move between investigation, personal conflict and the mounting intensity of the operation. Produced by lionel Cohen for dna-productions.
