For more than three decades, lionel Cohen has built one of independent film music's most prolific catalogs โ over 300 released albums and upward of 500 IMDb credits, with scores commissioned by studios including Sony Pictures, Lionsgate, Saban Films, Gravitas Ventures, and Vertical Entertainment. Beyond scoring, he's produced independent artists across both New York and Los Angeles for years.
Recent work includes Mob Cops, a hard-edged look at NYPD corruption, and The Perfect Gamble, whose score drew personal praise from Quentin Tarantino. He also wrote the noir-tinged theme music for Vanity Fair's podcast Love Is a Crime (starring Jon Hamm and Zooey Deschanel), scored the Duplass Brothers' Tribeca-premiered series The Long Long Night, and was commissioned to compose original music for This American Life. His score for the animated short Remember Us, about the Salvadoran Civil War, helped the film collect festival honors and qualify for Oscar consideration.
Alongside film work, Cohen keeps releasing genre-spanning concept albums of his own โ an eighteenth spaghetti-western record and a seventh Middle Eastern fusion release among them โ while producing a roster of Los Angeles singer-songwriters.
The score for The Perfect Gamble stood out enough to draw personal, unsolicited praise from Quentin Tarantino.
