The Series
Created by Mark Duplass and Barret O'Brien, The Long Long Night is a 6-part dark comedy series that follows lifelong best friends Pete and Carroll. Set against the storied backdrop of a motel room, the series tracks the duo as they navigate a spiraling, single-night odyssey. Through eccentric encounters and deeply flawed plans, the show explores their desperate, often misguided attempt to find purpose and meaning in their adult lives.
The Score
Composer Lionel Cohen captures the sweaty, chaotic atmosphere of the adventure through a score that feels like it’s swaying on its own two feet. The music is characterized by "drunken" New Orleans jazz—featuring loosely timed brass lines, off-kilter piano improvisations, and syncopated percussion that sounds like it’s barely holding onto the beat. The score perfectly complements the dark comedic timing, sounding like a band that has played too many sets, had one too many drinks, and is trying to keep the night from falling apart.
