An Independent Label
With a Personal Mission

dna-productions was founded by lionel Cohen over 25 years ago in New York City as a graphic design company. After designing album covers for local artists, lionel saw an opportunity and transformed the company into a record label in 2004.

In 2013 the label relocated from New York to Los Angeles, California, where it has continued to grow. With over 300 releases and placements on hundreds of productions, dna-productions has established itself as one of the most versatile independent labels for film and TV music.

We're based in Hollywood but our roots are proudly New York. We approach every release with the same gritty, independent spirit that defined the East Village when it was still a neighbourhood of artists, not boutiques.

Label Timeline

  • Late 1990s — New York City lionel Cohen founds dna-productions as a graphic design studio in New York City.
  • 2004 — The Label is Born After designing album covers, the company transforms into a full record label.
  • 2006 — First Major Releases Early catalogue builds, establishing the label's distinctive identity across genres.
  • 2013 — Los Angeles The label relocates to Hollywood, CA, expanding reach into film and television.
  • 2025 — 300+ Releases Over three hundred releases spanning film, television, and advertising music.
